Learn About Time for Therapy
The Need
It all started in 2015 when our founder served as a crisis and safety evaluator for hospitals in Yamhill County. The need for mental health care in Oregon was (and continues to be) immense, with approximately one mental health professional for every 1,000 people living in the state. Provider burnout and lack of financial sustainability have only made things worse for the mental healthcare system. It was time for something to change.
Time Begins
Time for Therapy launched in 2025 with a simple purpose in mind.
Every moment offers an opportunity to step forward, to grow, to heal. Some moments are shaped by circumstance, while others are defined by the decisions we make. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.
Our practice was founded by Dr. Kyler Shumway on the idea that therapy should be an empowering experience for both clients and clinicians; that way, everyone gets the most from the time invested in treatment. We know that when providers are well-supported, they can offer better care. That’s why we created a place where therapists feel valued, inspired, and equipped to help their clients thrive.
We are more than just a therapy practice—we are a community built on trust, respect, and the shared goal of helping people make the most of their time.
Expanding Access
Our practice believes in empowering people to make informed decisions about their care, which starts by building strong, collaborative relationships with the community. We partner with local schools, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless access to mental health support when and where people need it most.
By working closely with schools, we help students, parents, and educators recognize and address mental health concerns early, providing resources and referrals to ensure children and adolescents receive timely, effective care. Our collaboration with primary care providers strengthens the bridge between physical and mental health, making it easier for patients to access therapy as part of their overall well-being. Additionally, we engage with workplaces, universities, and community organizations to promote mental health awareness and provide direct pathways to care.
Through these partnerships, we reduce barriers to mental health services, helping individuals and families connect with the right support at the right time.
All In Due Time...
Our passion for excellent mental healthcare doesn't end with therapy - we intend to expand our service offerings to include other elements of biopsychosocial treatment, including registered dieticians, social skills coaching, medication management, and more.
